Audi Works on Plans for an All-Electric City Car

A lot of automakers these days are making the shift towards developing the technology for all-electric vehicles. The target market for this type of vehicle includes drivers in congested urban areas where short trips are common and recharges won't be as frequent. Audi recently reported that plans were in the works to get on board with this technology, and we are bringing you the latest details.

The Audi EV hatchback model will feature the brand's signature grille design, LED headlights and taillights, along with chrome accent trim to give it a modern appeal. It will also be built on a platform similar to that of a competitor brand. It's quite possible the model will be ready for its grand debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show that takes place next September. Here at Jim Ellis Audi Marietta, we are certainly looking forward to seeing what the automaker produces.

Moving on to the interior of the vehicle, the EV will provide passengers with leather upholstery and an advanced infotainment center. In terms of power, the model will sport an electric motor that generates 115 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. This enables it to accelerate to 62 miles per hour in just 9.3 seconds and to reach a top speed of 90 mph. With its lithium-ion battery pack located under the car floor, its estimated driving range is about 125 miles before a recharge is required.

We have our fingers crossed that more details will be confirmed in the near future regarding this new Audi EV model. It's quite possible it will only be available to European markets, but only time will tell! As always, we will keep all of you in the Marietta, GA informed on our blog as updates occur.

Until then, we welcome you to visit our showroom to check out what our new Audi lineup currently has to offer. We can schedule you for a test drive or answer any questions you may have, so be sure to stop in and see us soon.
